Icons and symbols

Icons in the Courses area of Stud.IP

Symbols turn red if a new piece of content has been added. Clicking on a symbol takes you to the relevant feature of the learning environment. In the Courses area, the following symbols are in use:

Explanation
Sprechblase in rot Sprechblase in grau

If the discussion forum symbol is red, there's a new post in the discussion forum of the course. If the symbol is grey, you have seen all forum posts in that area.

Personensymbol in rot Personensymbol in grau

The course participant list symbol turns red if new people have registered for the course.

geknicktes Blatt in rot geknicktes Blatt in grau

The announcements symbol turns red to indicate that there are unread announcements in that course.

Kalendersymbol in rot Kalendersymbol in grau

The schedule symbol is red if new classes / events have been added to a course's schedule.

leeres geknicktes Blatt in rot leeres geknicktes Blatt in grau

The documents symbol turns red when new files have been added to a course.

The video symbol turns red when there are new videos in a course.

The survey symbol turns red when there are new survey in a course.

Buchstabe i in einem Kreis The information symbol opens a window listing basic course information.
graues i in einem Rechteck This symbol indicates that a link has been added to the course.
drei verschieden große Kreise This symbol indicates new contributions on a cours's noticeboard / blubberstream.
Hand deutet auf einen Kreis This symbol relates to an evaluation / assessment taking place in that course.
Wikingerhelm This symbol takes you to the wiki-area of a course.
offene Türe offene Türe mit Pfeil und rotem X

Click on this icon to de-register from a course. If the red X is showing inside the icon, de-registering is not possible for you at this time.

Zwei Zahnräder

This icon is only visible to staff responsible for teaching or managing the course in Stud.IP. Clicking on it will take you to the course management area.

Blatt und Stift

The edit symbol indicates that you can make changes to a setting / piece of content.

Mülleimersymbol The delete symbol.
Symbol Videokamera This symbol brings you to the tab "Zoom" of an event. Here you can see if video conferences were created via Zoom which you can attend directly via Stud.IP.

Symbols in the Messages area

The Messages area of Stud.IP uses the following icons:

Brief mit rotem PlusThe Compose symbol lets you start a new message..
blauer Haken

The Mark all as read symbol lets you change the status of all messages to "read".

Symbols in the Community area

In the Community area, you'll come across the following icons:

Click on the pinboard symbol to write a new notice. If you click on this icon on a person's profile, that person will be tagged in your notice.

BriefsymbolClick on the message symbol on someone's profile to send them a message within Stud.IP.
Person mit rotem PlusPerson mit rotem MinusThe "add contact" and "remove contact" symbols.

Symbols in the Planner area

In the Planner area, you will encounter the following icons:

Add a new entry to your timetable / planner.
Display a printer friendly version of the planner.
Change the display settings.
Show hidden courses (if you have previously hidden courses from your planner).
